David Newhan had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Tampico Stogies defeated the Caracas
Leones by the score of 9 to 8 at the ballpark.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Newhan. He laced a one-base hit in the 1st inning, delivered a
single which scored a run in the 3rd inning, cracked a solo homerun (his 11th
of the season) in the 7th inning and smacked a base-hit plating a run in the
8th inning. Tampico banged out 12 on the afternoon.
The win was credited to Dan Miceli(2-1) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Jason Frasor recorded his 11th save. Brandon Backe(1-1) was the losing
pitcher in relief. He allowed Tampico 4 runs in 2 innings of work.
Tampico now has a record of 44-54. With this loss, Caracas has a 6-4 record
